Over the Weekend...

I volunteered with friends and family to work the water stop at Johnny's Running of the Green 5 Mile Race.  Despite it being chilly we all had a wonderful time and enjoyed munching on some cookies and chocolate milk.  

 We offered water to the top runners but would you believe that not one of them stopped?  Even if it was hot we probably wouldn't have had a taker.

 On Sunday Luke and I went to a little girls 3rd birthday party.  It was a Frozen theme and the homemade cake was delicious.  There was swimming for a little bit and then pizza, presents and cake.

Party 'til you Puke...

 This past weekend Miss New Hampshire came to town from Florida (yup, scratch your head on that one for a while) so a bunch of people met up at Marge's Lakeside Inn for some drinks and to visit with her on Friday.  Marge's is a tropical theme place, local "dive" bar in the best way possible.

 Apparently if you are out drinking with friends for a few hours you turn into a squirrel.  I am happy to report that my mother turned back into herself for her birthday the next day.  To celebrate her birthday Jen came to town with Michael.

 A few people stopped by my parents to visit with her and Michael Saturday.  Miss New Hampshire had to go take a nap that afternoon.  Jen went to the Knighthawks lacrosse game with my folks while Manfriend and I had the chance to babysit.  He woke up from his nap, we played and then did the bedtime routine of bath and bottle.  A few hours later, our babysitting adventure ended in the little dude puking all over about 15 minutes before they came home.  We hope that he is feeling better since he had to travel back home Sunday afternoon.

What we've been up to lately

It has been a while since I have blogged and i've been busy.  I've been called into work almost every day lately (that's a good thing) and have been busy with my Dopey Training.  That race is going to happen in less than 50 days and I am going to be ready despite the fact that the course is the 20 year celebration course from last year that made me miserable.  That's right Disney, you did something that I don't like and am disappointed that you are keeping the change.  Bring back the old course!

Anyways, Girls on the run wrapped up with the 5k.  The week leading up to the event was pretty decent and of course the day of the 5k started out beautifully with blue skies and decent temperatures.  But the weather man was right and about the time the race started the temps had dropped, wind kicked up and it was snowing.  It's been frigid ever since.

Luke and I also did our Christmas photo.  We thought about including Cinder Ella but she was all cozy snuggled in her cat bed and watched us smile about 8 times and then pick a photo.

 And I have Disney on the brain almost 24/7.  Magic Bands arrived in the mail for Luke and I.  I have practically begged him to take me every year for Christmas since we got married and this year we are going.  Very much looking forward to checking out all the decorations and holiday magic that only Disney can provide.

 We were selected to take part in the test program of their new MagicBands program.  I've been busy planning our dining reservations, fast passes and such that are all linked to the bands.   They are customizable (color) and they have our names printed on the back.  They will serve as our park passes, fast passes, dining reservations and room keys as well as a charge card if we assign one to the bands.

 

It's a Wonderful Life

It's a Wonderful Life is one of those holiday classic movies that you fall in love with.  Living not that far away from the inspiration for Bedford Falls I have always wanted to go for their weekend festival to see the various pieces of the movie.  Their festival also includes a 5k that follows the route that George Bailey followed from the bridge, where he met Clarence the angel to see what life would be like without him in it, back to his house where Mary and his children were waiting.

Manfriend was busy researching something online and agreed to go for the day and handed over my registration fee without hesitation.  Now to plan a costume for the event that is classic holiday but I don't look like an elf (although that would be fun).  Here is the link to the page for this year:

This weekend...

This weekend I tied all the Girls on the Run shirts up with sparkly pink ribbon so I can give them to the girls.  I think that will make it much more fun to finally get their shirts.  I also put their names on the tags so I am not having to check the size list a whole bunch.  

 I was told my hair was gorgeous.  So I had to take a picture.  I guess it looks pretty decent despite all the running and such that I put it through.  Still could go for a trim but realized the length I want would put me back into the category of looking "identical" to Stacy Pensgen again.  What do you think?

 In the past I've had random people stop me to tell me I do a great job with the weather.  And in other news...

I love all things pumpkin.  I am very disappointed when things don't look as good as the box.  I followed the directions and the pumpkin bars taste great.  I am only bummed that they look better on the box.  A dollop of whipped cream and some cinnamon sticks aren't going to fix my version.  Anyone else have the problem of boxed baked goods not coming out "as advertised."  Have a great week!
