Lewistown on Monday

Jen left work early on Monday and took me out to lunch in a small town called Lewsitown.  While Jen was at work I started work on one of the projects she had around the house.  Talking to Jen she wanted a hospital gown so she'd look good when having her baby.  I found a pattern for one and started on the project.  It took me about 2 days and I don't have a finished photo since we need to keep that a surprise for when you see her baby photos.  I made sure to press all the seams before I sewed them.  I think it came out quite well for my first attempt at an actual garment rather than curtains or repairs.
When in Lewistown we at at the Huckleberry and it was pretty good.  She had me walk around town with her...all of about 3 total blocks.  It was a cute town and she just wanted to get me out of the house.
After lunch and our mini-walk we had ice cream at the Sweet Cow.  I had a strawberry daiquiri flavor.

Banjo Billy Boulder Bus Tour

Jen decided to take me on an adventure each day while I was in town "babysitting" her.  Saturday we went to the zoo.  Sunday we went on this bus tour of Boulder.  Jen didn't tell me what we were doing, just that we were going on a history of Boulder tour.  I saw this bus drive by a side street and told her that looks like a fun bus.  She went on to tell me how it was a "drunk bus" for the college during a weekend, taking kids around.  So I figure cool and fun bus that I will never get to check out.
And then the bus pulls up in front of the Boulderado Hotel (where we had to meet up for our tour).  The bus didn't just pull up... it whinnied like a horse as it pulled to a stop.  The bus has 3 different sound horns, a whinny and a whoot whoot whistle, plus a third that I forget.
Yup, that appears to be a bus wrapped in reclaimed barn wood.  It was a riot and I was so excited to get on the bus and have our tour.  It did end up being more of ghost stories from the history of the town but it was still interesting.  Not what either of us expected, but what can you expect from a bus that looks like this:
Inside the bus was a riot.  I chose to sit in the saddle.  The rest of the seats on the bus looked like oversize chairs that were tossed out at the end of the spring college semester.
We had some beautiful views along with our history of some of Boulder.  Although it was hot outside it was shaded on the bus and really not that warm despite there being no windows on the bus.
Of course after the bus tour we went to Ben & Jerry's for ice cream.  I will have to do a separate post of all the photos of Jen from each ice cream place we visited.  We went to a new place each day.  She doesn't normally eat ice cream every day but wanted to take me out for mini-adventures each day and knows I love ice cream.  Such a thoughtful sister I have.
I love how Ben & Jerry's is in the old bank building.

Denver Zoo

Greetings from Colorado!  Jen took me to the zoo on Saturday and she didn't leave me there... in fact she even took me out for frozen yogurt after.  The zoo was very nice and reminded me a little bit of Disney's Animal Kingdom but smaller.
Near the Feline section of the zoo they had this "compare your hand to our paws" display.  Jen has stubby thumbs and as you can see here her thumb is the measurement of a child.  She put it against the adult thumb and it was about half of what an average adult has for a thumb.
"Oliver, what's that?"  Said a mom and grandma near us.  "A tiger, rrraawwww."  "Yes, a tiger.  Your favorite."  Um, people there is a sign right in front of the enclosure that says Leopard.  Correct your child so they don't grow up to be stupid.  Even Jen thought that was some dumb parenting.
Notice, Leopards have spots and Tigers have stripes.  Tigers can be easily identified by calling them Tony and thinking of Frosted Flakes.  Pretty tiger... and huge!
We stopped for a slice of pizza near the sea lions and polar bear.  He was hanging out in his shade cave and smiling for us.  Sorry mom but there wasn't a coca cola bottle in his hands.
Jen loved monkey island.  There were 2 monkeys going crazy swinging overhead and climbing all over the place.  They were quite fun to watch but it was kind of sunny and warm in that area so we spent more time watching the monkeys in the indoor area.
After the zoo Jen took me to get some frozen yogurt and to see Bob's work place.  We had a fun day at the zoo and I am looking forward to our other adventures that she has planned.

Visiting Jen...

So since I have the most flexible schedule and Bob is going out of town for a work conference I am flying out to "baby sit" my little sister Jen.  He doesn't want her alone since she is due in mid-July.   While Jen and I don't always get along I think that we will have some fun together as long as she doesn't complain about my "precious marathon movie," that I insist that we go see.  I love running and it is a one day only across America showing of the Spirit of the Marathon II.
She's already plotting what she can do with the whale baby tub from her shower (as you can see in the picture) so I guess we will have quite and adventure.  I am looking forward to doing some yard work for her and painting the pantry and exhausting her doggie Wells with walks or running and even learning how to do some cooking (Jen promised, but not that I would be successful).  We are also going to the zoo (where she might just plan on leaving me until it's time for me to return home).  Don't worry Jen, I have ideas for your weekly belly shot that are sure to entertain the masses!

Memorial Day Weekend

So I am a little late on posting about Memorial Day weekend.  Things have been busy around here.  We had a wonderful weekend up at the cottage with a lot of family and some friends.  I popped over to the Section V track meet around the corner from our house and then picked up 18 lobsters at Tops.
That's right, 18 lobsters... it was going to be a feast.  I had them all in our recycle bin so they could "breathe" and not be crawling all over my car.
Papa Bear was a great chef and Uncle Jimmy was his helper by brining in the cooked lobsters for people to start eating (they could only steam so many at a time).
The weather was quite chilly, so much so that we had a little fire in the wood stove to keep the chill out of the cottage.  Of course there would be a campfire later.  My Papa Bear pulled out all sorts of tools for eating the lobsters.  My favorite were these:
We are so classy.  Laugh all you want but they worked great.  Papa Bear enjoyed his lobster with butter so much that he decided to wear it.  He spilled his cup of butter all over his sweatshirt and pants.  He started to take his shirt off shortly after this photo but decided he was already messy so he might as well keep going with it.
Yup, here are my parents to prove how awesome we are and why we "don't have nice things."  By things we refer to cottage clothes since we are always spilling on them, fish guts, sand box messes  or they are getting washed a bajillion times to get the campfire smell out.
Later that night some of the girls were on the couch looking at photos from the previous Memorial day lobster fest and were busting a gut laughing.
In the morning Papa Bear decided to get the meat out of the lobster for Grandpa Zip since he and Grandma Pearl weren't able to make it.  Mom decided to photo bomb.  They are always making me laugh and I love them for it.
